Massachusetts electorate cross measure giving Uber, Lyft drivers greenlight to unionize

Massachusetts electorate on Tuesday authorized a poll measure that provides ride-share drivers for app-based firms like Uber and Lyft the greenlight to unionize. 

The Massachusetts measure, referred to as “Question 3,” would permit ride-share drivers regarded as sovereign contractors to jointly cut price over pay and advantages.

“With the passage of this ballot measure, we look forward to working collaboratively on its implementations and addressing some of the language concerns we have during the legislative session next year,” a spokesperson for Lyft advised FOX Trade.

Query 3 comes amid a years-long struggle within the U.S. over whether or not ride-share drivers will have to be regarded as sovereign contractors or workers entitled to advantages and wages.

Supporters have mentioned the poll measure may grant a type for alternative states to let Uber and Lyft drivers unionize and encourage efforts to arrange them across the U.S.
