Us Women’s Open Golf Championship
The second women’s major golf championship of the year gets underway on Thursday 30 May, with the 2024 US Women’s Open taking place at Lancaster Country Club in Pennsylvania, which previously hosted the event in 2015.
The biggest and richest event in women’s golf prides itself on being the toughest test, and Lancaster Country Club has all the trappings with its hilly, tree-lined terrain, partially blind shots into some of the greens and a routing in which holes constantly change direction.
2024 US Women’s Open Prize Money
As a result of her recent form, Korda is the red-hot favourite to continue her winning streak this week and collect the $2 million first prize, which comes from a total prize purse of $12 million (up $1 million from last year, although the winner’s amount remains the same). That makes the event the most lucrative on the LPGA Tour this year.
Unlike in the men’s game, the women have had five majors to compete for since 2013, with Women’s PGA Championship (20-23 June), the Evian Championship (11-14 July) and the Women’s Open (22-25 August) all to follow this summer.

No matter how easy Nelly Korda has made golf look over the last two months, not even the best player in her sport can expect an easy time at the U.S. Women’s Open.
Nelly Korda was the winner of the first major of the year at the Chevron Championship in April, which will come as a surprise to nobody who has followed women’s golf recently. After tying for 16th at her first tournament in 2024, the Florida native has won on five of her last six starts, the last of which came at the Mizuho Americas Open two weeks ago.
